The terrible bushfires in Australia burnt the whole isle last summer. It was devastating.
Fortunately a discovery group found a little pygmy possum who was lucky enough to stay alive.
That animal considered to be an endangered animal.
Everyone thought that the animal was destroys as a result of the fires.
Kangaroo island land for wildlife was surprised to notice this little cutie! They were doing research in a not burnt forest.
The Tasmanian pygmy possum is the smallest possum.
It’s surprising how the animal could survive that devastating disaster.
These cute animals weren’t noticed before the wildfires.
It was so surprising to find it because they thought the animals are lost before the wildfire.
The fauna ecologist noted that the little pygmy possum were not famous before the bushfires in 2020.
She also added that she is happy finding these wonderful species after the terrible wildfire.
The tiny pygmy possum is much smaller than the other type called Western pygmy possum. They weight 7 kg.
Even though the bushfire destroyed the whole habitat of the island they were still hopeful that will be able to find them.
They said they will do everything to protect these rare species.
