The dog races into soldier dad’s arms with so much happiness and joy after 3 years apart

The Army specialist whose name is Vance McFarland became friends with the loveliest dog named Ikar in Afghanistan.

The dog was an explosive detection dog. He was so loyal to Vance.

They came home and shortly after Ikar was sent back to Afghanistan.

Ikar went to a kennel that only had to be for several months.

However, the poor dog stayed there for 17 months.

Ikar stayed alone for a long time. Mission K9 Rescue and the US War Dogs Association tried to help mission dogs to reunite with their mission best friends.

However the group had to find McFarland for a long time who used to be Ikar’s original handler.

Imagine just how happy the man was when he heard about Ikar.

It has been three years the dog didn’t see his owner. The man wasn’t sure if the dog will remember him.

But he remembered him and when seeing him ran straight into McFarland’s arms.

Just have a look at the photo showing how sweet their connection is.

Vance says that they have lots of toys at home and still they will get some.

We are really happy seeing them reunited and happy together.

It was so emotional and sweet.
